The story of these scores: We believe this happened: Billy May wrote the scores for the Time-Life Swing Era sessions, and made a Xerox copy of them. The originals went into file at Time-Life and the copies were sent to “Warren”, for copying the parts out of it. Probably he directed the recordings from the copies. After an argument with Time-Life he took his belongings, (these full-scores, no parts), from the company office. Mr. May gave the scores to our contact, a good friend of him, and eventually they were sold to us.
